Q: What is ILL?

ILL or Interlibrary Loan is the process by which the library requests items from or supplies items to another library. It means that we can obtain materials for you from other libraries around the world.

Q: When is ILL used?

Use ILL to request material that is not owned by the SEBTS Library.

Q: What types of things may be requested through ILL?

You may request books, dissertations, photocopies of articles, microfilms, and microfiche not owned by the SEBTS Library.

Q: How long does it take for ILL items to come in?

Typically, it may take about two weeks for items to come in through ILL. Some items may even be unavailable.

Q: How many items may I request?

You may submit only 3 to 4 requests every other day. However there is no limit to the total number of requests.

Q: How much does ILL cost?

Costs vary from library to library. You pay what the lending library charges, which in some cases is nothing. Plus, you are responsible for overdue fines and charges due to loss or damage of an item in your possession. The SEBTS Library picks up the tab for postage. Dissertations typically cost $25.00.
