Zotero FAQ

  • Where is the best place to get help for Zotero?
    • Library staff can answer basic questions, but we don't officially support Zotero. The best place to get assistance for issues with Zotero is the official Zotero documentation and forums pages.
  • Can you import older bibliographies into Zotero?
    • Yes, but you're going to need a 3rd party tool, Anystyle.io, to do so.
    • For instructions on using Anystyle.io, consult their Documentation Section. We've also produced a brief video explaining how to use AnyStyle and Zotero together.
    • Once you've parsed and edited your bibliography in Anystyle.io, export it as a BibTex file.
    • In Zotero, choose File > Import.
    • In the Import dialog, select "A file (BibTeX, RIS, Zotero RDF, etc.), and continue. Select your exported file, and click Open.
    • Choose the options you prefer, and click continue.
    • Your file should export into either a new collection or your main library.
  • Does Zotero work with Microsoft Word?
    • Yes, if you're using the desktop version of Word.
    • No, if you're using the online version of Word.
    • If you need to use Zotero in Word, but you also need others to edit or comment on your work in the online version of Word, store your work in One Drive. This should allow you to edit with the desktop version while others will be able to edit and comment with the online version.
