Historical Note: The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is an organization that exists to promote academic freedom in higher education. The SEBTS chapter of the AAUP was founded in 1987, shortly after the resignation of President Randall Lolley and Dean Morris Ashcraft. 

Scope and Contents: This collection contains paper material relating to the formation of the SEBTS chapter of the AAUP and the organization's activities during its early stages. Material in this collection includes correspondence between professors expressing their views of the events at SEBTS, memos sent out to AAUP members, and minutes of meetings.
