Arlington Street Baptist Church records, 1957-2016

Historical Note: Arlington Street Baptist Church was located in Greenville, North Carolina. It was a part of the South Roanoke Baptist Association and was originally named "Hillsdale Church." In 1957 the church's name changed to "Arlington Street Missionary Baptist Church." The church incorporated in 1992. In 2014, church members formed a "future team" to discuss the future of the church and its dissolution. Arlington Street Baptist Church was dissolved in 2016.

Scope and Contents: This collection records the history of Arlington Street Baptist Church and documents the church's policies and procedures. The collection contains numerous records related to the physical structure of the church, including records of the property deed, appraisal reports for the church building, renovation records, and blueprints. The collection also consists of church financial records, such as church budgets and loans taken out by the church. Other records include church business meetings, church event flyers, H.I.S. Ladies Ministry Team materials, and South Roanoke Baptist Association materials. A significant portion of the collection also consists of photo albums of church members.

Conditions Governing Access: This collection is open for research. 

Custodial History: Donated to ASC August 4, 2020 by former church member Phil Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson's father was involved in church leadership and maintained the records of the defunct church in his home prior to donation.

Processing History: The records were appraised by Archivist Jonathan Lawler September 2020. They were arranged and described by Archives Assistants Lucas Page and Joshua Britt in September 2020.
